The closest airport isthe international Marco Polo, at Tessera (Venice). You can reach Venice by land or by water. By land: there are public ACTV buses or public taxi that take you to Piazzale Roma, from Piazzale Roma you can proceed public water transportation: ACTV Vaporettos to Piazza San Marco (stop name is San Zaccaria) you will then have to walk for 2 minutes to reach the Locanda Cavanella (see the map). Alternatively you can reach Piazza San Marco by water directly from the airport dock: there is Water taxi service (25 minutes journey) or by Alilaguna Shuttle redline (55 minutes journey). Other airports are: Treviso Treviso and Verona. From the above you can reach Venice by public or private transportation.

Highway exit is Mestre-Venezia, follow the signs for Venice if you are travelling by car you can only reach Piazzale Roma from where the public transportation leaves for San Marco. You can park your car either in a garage in Piazzale Roma or at the Tronchetto (1 minute walk from Piazzale Roma) also connected by Actv bus to Piazzale Roma. To reach the Tronchetto island turn right at the lights on the Ponte della Libertà (the bridge that joins Venice to the mainland) and follow the signs for parking places. From Piazzale Roma or from the Tronchetto you can reach San Marco (stop name is San Zaccaria) with public ACTV transportation (line n. 1-2-42-52: 25 minutes journey) or by water taxi (15 minutes journey).
